30 injured after vehicle hits LA nightclub line

A car drove into a crowd of pedestrians on a busy East Hollywood sidewalk early Saturday, injuring 30 people, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The crash occurred about 2 a.m. on West Santa Monica Boulevard, near a line of people waiting outside a nightclub. The vehicle, a Nissan Versa, hit a taco truck and a valet stand before coming to a stop, fire officials said.

First responders found dozens of victims (mostly female) spread along the sidewalk. All 30 were transported to local hospitals and trauma centers. Three people were listed in critical condition as of Saturday afternoon.

Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Capt. Adam Van Gerpen told reporters that many of those injured had been waiting in line or ordering food when the car came onto the sidewalk. One person was found with a gunshot wound, though it’s unclear whether that injury was related to the crash.

The driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators, according to Los Angeles police. Authorities said the cause of the crash remains under investigation. No arrests have been made, and it is not yet known whether the crash was intentional or if impairment played a role.

The incident happened on a stretch of Santa Monica Boulevard known for its nightlife, with bars, restaurants, and late-night vendors that typically draw large weekend crowds. Officials said the area was especially busy at the time of the crash.

LAPD investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses as part of the ongoing investigation. City officials have not released the identity of the driver or victims.
