Aamir Khan’s Mother Zeenat Hussain To Make On-Screen Debut

Zeenat Hussain, Aamir Khan’s Mother, to Make Her Acting Debut at 90 in Sitaare Zameen Par

In what is certainly one of the most feel-good casting announcements of the year, Aamir Khan’s mother, Zeenat Hussain, is set to make her film debut at age 90 in Sitaare Zameen Par. She is joined by Aamir’s sister, Nikhat Khan, who continues her journey with another cameo.

This Is a Nice Touch to a Spiritual Sequel

Sitaare Zameen Par, slated for release on June 20, 2025, is the spiritual sequel to Aamir’s 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par. The film is directed by R.S. Prasanna. Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh are starring in lead roles alongside ten child actors who all will be making their debut.

Sources familiar with the project have indicated Zeenat Hussain will make a special appearance, and this will be a rare public outing for the soft-spoken matriarch of the Khan family. While Hussain’s role will only be a minor one, her presence symbolises the family’s values, their focus on professional progress, and most importantly for the purposes of this film, their commitment to care, guidance, and unconditional love.

Nikhat Khan – A Professional Life to Celebrate

Aamir’s sister Nikhat Khan has achieved recognition in Hindi cinema, with credits that include Mission Mangal, Saand Ki Aankh, and not least Pathaan.
Her return to the screen in Sitaare Zameen Par marks yet another addition to what is now becoming a very visible and beloved second innings for the Khan sibling.

While details about the roles of Zeenat Hussain and Nikhat Khan are being kept tightly under wraps, those behind the scenes hinted that their scenes are emotionally very strong and very deep and sum up the film’s core message about empathy and change.

An Emotionally Stirring Musical Journey

In a Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy score with lyrics from Amitabh Bhattacharya, Sitaare Zameen Par is proposed to be an emotionally stirring musical journey. Aamir Khan, who produces the film with Aparna Purohit and Ravi Bhagchandka, has spoken rather openly about this being a celebration of human connection, both on-screen and off.

When Cinema Meets Family: A Rarity in Bollywood

This casting marks a rare fusion of real-life emotions with cinema storytelling. Aamir Khan, who is known for not discussing his private life much, makes a quiet but respectful exception — bringing his mother and sister into the cinematic spotlight for one of the most cherished moments in Sitaare Zameen Par.

Box Office Worldwide Verdict

In an industry largely filled with spectacle, Aamir Khan reminds us he has a heart, once again, as the best stories come from the heart. When Aamir brings his 90-year-old mother, Zeenat Hussain, and sister, Nikhat, on screen in Sitaare Zameen Par, that is not casting — that is family, legacy, and the power of love. We can expect tears, applause, and an overall special place in the audience’s hearts when this spiritual sequel arrives in theatres this June.
