MANILA, Philippines — On AC Miner’s special day, her father, Clifford, flew from the United States to Manila to attend the 2025 PVL Rookie Draft on Sunday at Novotel.
From watching her games on his screen in Jackson, Tennessee, Clifford made sure to be with AC as she enters a new chapter of her volleyball career.

“When I get picked, he’s gonna be there cheering me on, I’m very happy that he’s here in person, not just on camera,” Miner told reporters moments before the draft.
“I’m very thankful that from the start of my volleyball career, I had very supportive parents, and until now coming to the professional league.”
Clifford, who watched her UAAP games online, doesn’t want to miss his daughter’s moment.
“It’s like a culmination of all these years she’s playing volleyball. This is like a pivotal point to go pro and to be selected for the next level of play. I’m looking forward to her getting to a good team and doing well at this next level,” he said.
“This is a pivotal point. In the USA, we have the NBA and the NFL Draft, you see the fathers and the families. But they don’t do it like they do here. They actually will be at home with the families around just waiting for a phone call from that team. This is a little different. But I’m just so happy to be here, be able to see when she’s called and see what team picks her.”

Clifford credited his wife for watching Miner grow from playing in FEU High School to being an Ateneo Blue Eagle in the UAAP women’s volleyball.
“Her mom is the person that could be the contributing factor because her mom has attended every game from elementary school all the way to the four years of college,” Clifford said. “I’ve basically been on the internet and Facebook with her, usually about twice a week. Prior to a game, I’m telling her to do her best and I’m looking forward to a win. The ultimate [goal] is to win but if you don’t win, just play your game.”

Clifford’s advice to Miner is to continue to be a team player for the club that will give her an opportunity.
“I’ve always told her throughout the years that… just be the best, do the best you can do. [Be] a team player, there’s no I in team so it’s always been a positive input to her to make sure she plays her game and just do her best,” he said.
Regardless of the outcome of the draft night, the PVL hopeful Miner is just grateful to have supportive parents.
