Is Paresh Rawal Not Playing Baburao In Hera Pheri 3?

There’s been a tonne of hype surrounding Hera Pheri 3, but recent news has left some fans disappointed and broken-hearted. One of the most iconic characters in Bollywood — Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, played by the talented Paresh Rawal — may not be making the jump to the third film.

Paresh Rawal’s Mysterious Comments Fuel Exit Speculation

It all started innocently enough with a worried fan commenting on one of Paresh Rawal’s recent posts, imploring him to reconsider parting ways with the film:

“Sir, think once again… you are the real hero of this film.”

To which Rawal replied, short and to the point:

“No… Hera Pheri has three heroes.”

That comment, posted to his official X (formerly Twitter) account, has had a fair amount of reach since it was posted. While somewhat matter-of-fact from the perspective of responding to a fan, it leaves with an air of finality — raising some serious speculation that Rawal is indeed out of Hera Pheri 3.

Legal Trouble with Akshay Kumar?

Sources hint at serious trouble between Paresh Rawal and producer-actor Akshay Kumar. What started out as creative differences ultimately led to financial and legal trouble.

Sources suggest that Akshay Kumar even formally filed legal charges against Rawal prior to the fallout during contract negotiations. After the falling out, it’s suggested that Rawal returned his signing fee along with interest and ended any formal association with the film.

Who Will Be Baburao Now?

The biggest mystery looming over Hera Pheri 3 now is: Who will be the replacement for Baburao?

Fans are currently nominating Pankaj Tripathi on social media as the most logical successor. Tripathi has fantastic comic timing and has demonstrated a range so significant — from Stree to Mirzapur — that he’d arguably give a new but connected take on the popular character.

The makers haven’t made any official news about a replacement or recasting yet.

About Hera Pheri 3: Can the Magic Come Back?

The Hera Pheri franchise started in 2000 and changed slapstick comedy in Indian cinema forever. Between the mischief of Raju (Akshay Kumar), the loveable idiot Shyam (Suniel Shetty), and a wholly original character in Baburao (Paresh Rawal) and the classic one-liners, the films had a cultural impact.

Box Office Worldwide Verdict

The third part of the massively liked franchise has apparently been in the works for over a decade before getting filmed and produced this year. Initially, it employed Farhad Samji as director and now more recently Abhishek Sharma has taken the reins…
