Ted Cruz says defending Israel is in the Bible, but Tucker Carlson asking for proof was the plot twist he wasn’t ready for – We Got This Covered

Tucker Carlson’s interview with Ted Cruz may go down as one of the greatest pieces of entertainment of all time. Watching two fundamentally unlikeable guys just tearing each other apart is an experience like no other.

While both men are Republican they have disagreed in the past and it seems they are disagreeing again now. Their last disagreement was over the Jan 6. Insurrection with Carlson echoing Trump’s lies while Cruz was the voice of reason (he called the protest a “violent terrorist attack”). This time the roles are reversed with Cruz being the Trump parrot and Carlson being the one to call out the president and his complicity in Israel’s attack on Iran.

Tucker Carlson calls out Ted Cruz

During several parts of the lengthy conversation Carlson drilled the senator. At one point he mocked Cruz for not knowing the population of Iran. 

The possibility of the U.S. getting involved in the conflict between Israel and Iran came up a number of times with Carlson arguing against the attacks on Iran and Cruz defending it. At one point the senator brought up a Christian argument for the U.S. getting involved. He claimed that the Bible taught, “those who bless Israel will be blessed.”

We’ll bypass the tired arguments where we point out how “Christians” like Cruz pick and choose which part of the Bible they want to follow when it suits them and instead we’ll skip to the part where Carlson asks him to cite which part of the Bible that passage comes from. 

The senator clearly wasn’t expecting the question as he stumbles over his words and gets flustered as he struggles to answer. It becomes obvious pretty quickly as Cruz tells Carlson to “pull out the phone and use the Google” to find it. But Tucker doesn’t have to, as he actually knows and rather smugly tells the senator, “it’s in Genesis.”

Is Cruz really even Christian?

You’ve got to admit, that’s pretty embarrassing for Cruz. Like many MAGA supporters, Cruz hides behind Christianity as an excuse but his lack of knowledge on the Bible proves that he couldn’t be any further from Christianity if he tried. Just like the president he’s a Christian when it suits him, but not enough of a Christian to really commit to it. 

Carlson on the other hand seems to at least be a bit more informed on the matter. He doesn’t let Cruz’s slip go by without reprimand as he drills the senator on what exactly he means by “Israel.” He asks him if he means the Bible is commanding Christians to support the Israeli government as it stands right now to which Cruz responds “yes.”

The debate gets rather heated as the two continue to butt heads and while it’s great to see Carlson running circles around Cruz, let’s not forget, the former Fox News host was a major supporter of the current administration and his motives for supporting Iran over Israel may well come from his support for Russia and Russian allies rather than the genuine urge to be on the right side of history for once.
