Abhishek Bachchan Set To Star In Gruesome Butcher-Inspired Action Thriller
Abhishek Bachchan is preparing for an action thriller that will portray him like never before. The actor will be headlining the directorial debut of Shanmukha Gowtham Ghantasala, an associate of filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who has a number of cult blockbusters under his belt, including Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh, and Animal.
Abhishek Bachchan to Lead a Butcher-Inspired Gruesome Thriller
As per insider sources, Abhishek has been cast as a butcher in this film, and the character-driven role will reap a raw, gut-wrenching performance.
“Abhishek is thrilled and looking forward to working in a bold unconventional space. The film has moved away from the regular commercial colourful format and explored a grounded but brutally gritty storytelling,” shared a source.
The project will be produced by People Media Factory, who entered Bollywood with Jaat recently. The film is expected to go on floors by the end of 2025, and finding key characters for supporting roles is currently underway.
Shanmukha Gowtham: From Assistant to Director
Shanmukha has been a long-standing member of Sandeep Reddy Vanga‘s team, having helped him on all three of the filmmaker’s defining films, and will now helm the filming as director for the first time.
Industry sources say Shanmukha delivers a similar level of intensity and cinematic grittiness that fans expect from a Vanga movie.
Although the film is yet to be titled, sources tell us the tone of the movie echoes the post-credit world of Animal, where Ranbir Kapoor’s character Aziz was shown in a butcher’s avatar.
Though not a spinoff of Vanga’s film, the parallels will be readily seen in the visual aesthetics.
Abhishek Bachchan’s Slate: From King To Dinesh Vijan’s Next
Abhishek is currently shooting for King, an action thriller film led by Shah Rukh Khan and directed by Siddharth Anand, where Abhishek plays the main antagonist.
He is also in conversation with Dinesh Vijan for a forthcoming project whose details are being kept close to the vest.
“This is an actioner unlike any actioner Abhishek has ever done before and we are doing the groundwork on his appearance. The filmmakers want it to look and feel in line with the current wave of cinema.” the source concluded.

It was just a matter of time before Abhishek Bachchan decided to work with a debutant like Shanmukha Gowtham, who is from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s very intense cinematic universe.
