Melania laughs as Trump complains about wives who don’t care if their husbands get shot – We Got This Covered

Did Trump just tell us something about his marriage?

President Trump is still on his victory lap after the passing of his bill. This time, he was making a speech at the White House, picking House Majority Leader Steve Scalise specifically for praise, but he quickly went off on a tangent about how his wife is the “right kind of wife” because she showed concern when he was shot, unlike other wives, while Melania Trump stood right next to him.

Donald Trump’s awkward familial relationship with Melania has been subject to debate and rumors, with some even claiming it caused his fallout with Harvard. But his relationship with Steve Scalise is clearer and perhaps more transactional so his praise makes sense. In his defense of Trump’s megabill, Scalise wrote an article defending himself from the barrage, saying that ultimately he supported the bill because of tax cuts and “much-needed resources to hire more ICE and Border Patrol agents.” He did not, however, mention anything about the much-discussed effect it will have on the national deficit or Medicaid.

Scalise said he joined Trump’s campaign last year to help deliver on cutting Biden’s spending. And of course, in Pennsylvania on the 13th of July, Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt. The president is usually pretty avoidant when talking about those harrowing events, but this time, he shared a little tidbit.

Donald Trump told the press from the White House balcony that the Scalises were some of the most memorable visitors to see him. Trump then said, “I’ve seen a lot of wives that don’t seem so concerned in those situations. That’s the kind of wife you don’t want.” And as he said that, Melania was just standing there beside him with nothing else to do but let off a fake chuckle. Awkward.

He’s seen a lot of wives in that situation? That’s a loaded statement. Trump once made reference to an Elon Musk – sounding unnamed businessman who the “fat shot” just won’t work on, and everyone caught on immediately who he was actually talking about. Trump is not exactly the subliminal type. He’s too much of an exhibitionist to ever be able to pull that off.

So as you can imagine, everyone on X just assumed he must be talking about Melania Trump. One user commented that the interaction was very telling, while another commented sarcastically that this seems like a very “happy marriage.”

Trump having Freudian slips is rather normal. What’s actually surprising is that Melania was there at all. In Trump’s second term, she’s been notoriously AWOL, and when she does make an appearance, she doesn’t even grace us with her plagiarized speeches anymore. But hey, I suppose most of us also wouldn’t involve ourselves in Trump’s political circus if we didn’t have to.

This latest awkward interaction between the two is sure to cause more rumors and political gossip — hopefully, it leads to another midnight correction by Trump on Truth Social. He’s always funniest when he’s talking about his personal life. We’d rather him do that than issue threats to leaders of countries in the Middle East.
