When Drishyam first hit screens in 2015, audiences were gripped by Vijay Salgaonkar’s (Ajay Devgn) seemingly ordinary life unraveling after an extraordinary tragedy. The sequel nearly doubled the intrigue in 2022, with Akshaye Khanna joining the cast and Tabu reprising her role as the determined cop. Now, the saga races toward its third part.
Drishyam 3 Cast Confirmed: Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Akshaye Khanna Headline
Insiders reveal that Tabu and Akshaye Khanna, who played the part of a cop in Drishyam and Drishyam 2, will make a return in Drishyam 3.
“Abhishek Pathak recently met Akshaye Khanna and Tabu, and discussed the idea of Drishyam 3 with them. Both the actors were bowled over by the unpredictability of the screenplay, and instantly agreed to come on board the third part too. The paperwork will begin a fortnight,” revealed a source to Pinkvilla.
The three will carry the weight of the franchise: Devgn as Vijay, Khanna as the morally complex ally-turned-antagonist, and Tabu as the relentless investigator. Shriya Saran is also set to return, continuing her role from the first two films.
Production and Release Plans Align With Franchise Lore
With filming scheduled to start on October 2, 2025, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti, releasing the film exactly one year later on October 2, 2026, feels like poetic alignment with the franchise’s timeline. The date has become iconic, ever since the first instalment’s “pav bhaji on October 2” scene became unforgettable.
Panorama Studios recently confirmed the release date via its Bombay Stock Exchange filing on May 29, 2025, detailing its production pact with Digital 18 Media. Director Abhishek Pathak will once again lead the creative helm, marking his third major outing in the franchise following the sequel’s success in 2022.
High Stakes: What to Expect from the Final Chapter
The film continues from where the second part ended, and is a battle to the finale between the cop, and a man taking a stand to protect his family. Reports suggest Drishyam 3 will resolve the cinematic battle between the cop (Tabu) and Vijay Salgaonkar, a tense face-off wrapped in family loyalty. It promises to be the ultimate test of Vijay’s protective strategies and Tabu’s pursuit of justice.

Casting for supporting roles is still underway, but given the narrative stakes, expect a tight-knit ensemble around the central trio. Audiences can anticipate a finishing arc that ties loose threads with the same intelligent suspense that defined the earlier films.
With the core cast reunited, a strategic launch date that mirrors the original, and a concluding plot engineered around high tension, Drishyam 3 looks set to deliver the thrilling farewell the franchise deserves.
Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn will wrap up shooting for Dhamaal 4, and Ranger soon. Drishyam 3 begins filming in October, he will follow it up with Golmaal 5 and Shaitaan 2.
