Ben Roberts, chief executive of the British Film Institute, will give a keynote speech at the 2025 Screen Summit, ‘Building on the UK’s global success’, taking place at BFI Southbank in London on September 30. 

Roberts, the former CEO of Protagonist Pictures and head of the BFI Film Fund, has been chief executive of the BFI since 2020. He will talk about the organisation’s role in supporting the UK indie film sector and acting as a bridge between the industry and both the UK government and the international film community, including the Hollywood studios and streamers.

Screen’s second annual UK Film Summit is bringing together leading executives and filmmakers for a day of talks and networking to help UK films perform to their highest potential around the world.

Roberts joins confirmed speakers including Eva Yates, director of BBC Film, Farhana Bhula, interim director, Film4, and Mia Bays, director, BFI Filmmaking Fund. 

There will be further panels on:

  • Attracting international financing and partners to UK film
  • The role of UK talent in the international market
  • Trailblazing: experienced UK producers on carving the path to success
  • Local heroes: case studies on connecting UK films to audiences
  • Ask the experts, featuring leading voices across production sectors
