How will this affect their work situation?
Longtime NBC meteorology reporter Dylan Dreyer took to her Instagram to announce the sad news of her husband Brian Fichera’s separation.
Dylan and Brian have been very open about their relationship with their fans on social media. Starting out as friends, Brian and Dylan began as co-workers at a local news channel in Boston before they decided to start dating and then marry. But where they truly stole fans’ hearts was when they were expecting their first child. Certainly a better result than the most recent example of office romance gone public.
Dylan Dreyer would give tidbits on air about how daunting she found her impending motherhood to be, even occasionally asking her co-hosts what advice they had for her when she’d finally become a mother. Her Today co-hosts even held a baby shower that went viral in 2016. And when they finally had their first child, they took to Instagram to share the news with followers with a picture of them with their newborn, captioned, “From this day forward my entire life is dedicated to always being there for our son. Dylan is doing amazing baby is doing amazing!!! Thank you all for your kind words!!! Cue parenting!”
They have been sharing tidbits about their family since then, with the latest being this year on the July 4th weekend when the family spent time together watching fireworks. Little did fans of the couple know that that was the final time they would be spending time together as a couple. Per People, they are now broken up, and a source told the publication that the two have remained good friends through this separation and are prioritizing the well-being of their three children.
It’s been a tough year for celebrity relationships, but relative to the Scott Wolf and Kelley Wolf situation, things could technically have been worse for the news reporters. While separations are always sad, it’s always encouraging to see a former couple take the high road and decide to be respectful and focus on how best they can move forward for their family.
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have also remained cordial, so this is an encouraging trend to see for fans. But Dreyer took it to a level that even the A-listers couldn’t themselves, and decided to release a public statement via Instagram. The caption read: “We began as friends, and we will remain the closest of friends. Most importantly, we will continue to co-parent our three wonderful boys together with nothing but love and respect for one another. Thank you as always for your support.”
The two will not only continue co-parenting cordially, but they will also remain co-workers. Brian Fichera reportedly still works for NBC as a freelance cameraman and producer. There’s nothing that can mend heartbreak except time, and people tend to try using animosity to speed up their process, so it’s great to see more and more examples of people opting for a different path.
