The Maddock Horror‑Comedy Universe is building momentum ahead of its next ambitious release, Thama, promising an unforgettable clash of supernatural titans.
Anticipation Grows for Thama: Ayushmann and Rashmika Lead the Vampire Saga
Following the blockbuster success of Stree 2 (2024), which earned over ₹600 crore, fans are eager for the next big spectacle in the Maddock universe. Thama, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, fresh off Munjya, brings together a talented ensemble including Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Paresh Rawal. Ayushmann and Rashmika share the screen for the first time, a pairing already generating buzz as a major draw for Diwali 2025.
Final shooting wrapped in May in Ooty, where the team filmed pivotal romantic and climax sequences amid the scenic Nilgiri forests. Nawazuddin’s vampire origin scenes were also shot during this schedule.
Varun Dhawan’s Role Deepens the Legacy of Bhediya
Varun Dhawan reprises his werewolf persona as Bhediya, now confirmed to play a substantially larger role in Thama compared to his cameo in Stree 2. “Varun Dhawan has a lot more screen time in Thama, than in Stree 2. Even in Stree 2, he was a highlight and here, the makers have ensured that the impact of his performance is many notches higher. He shot for as many as 6 days, which clearly indicates how crucial he is to the narrative,” a source told Bollywood Hungama.
The same source added, “Varun Dhawan plays Bhediya while in Thama, Ayushmann Khurrana is a vampire. The werewolf vs vampire enmity is a common trope for a long time. Blockbuster producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films has taken this aspect in his upcoming release. Aditya Sarpotdar has canned it in a massive way and the action sequence between the two is expected to be a visual spectacle in terms of VFX and scale. The scene was shot in March-April this year.”
Reports confirm that Dinesh Vijan envisioned a high‑octane vampire‑versus‑werewolf confrontation, with an elaborate set built over five acres in Mumbai to house the massive action sequence.

Bigger Picture: Maddock Universe Releases and Future Slates
Thama is scheduled for release on Diwali 2025, a high‑profile festive launch marking Ayushmann’s first film in over two years since Dream Girl 2 in August 2023.
Meanwhile, the Maddock universe continues to expand: Bhediya 2 was initially set for August 14, 2026. Trade insiders suggest its release and those of Shakti Shalini (Dec 31, 2025) and Chamunda (Dec 4, 2026) are expected to be postponed, with new dates likely to be announced soon.
Varun Dhawan will be seen next in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, co‑starring Janhvi Kapoor, releasing on October 2 this year.
Thama promises to elevate the Maddock Horror‑Comedy Universe with a fresh vampire‑romance underpinned by blockbuster action. With Varun Dhawan’s expanded role playing off Ayushmann Khurrana’s first vampire character, the vampire vs Bhediya showdown is set to leave audiences spellbound.
