More than a decade after the original earned cult status, the much‑anticipated sequel is moving swiftly toward production. Months after its re-release rekindled interest, Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 is gearing up for a new chapter and it may just bring fresh energy to the beloved world of middle‑class Delhi comedy.
Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 in development with Huma Qureshi eyes lead role
The original Khosla Ka Ghosla, directed by Dibakar Banerjee in 2006, became an unexpected box office hit and later secured the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi at the 54th National Film Awards. It has since acquired cult status, thanks to its sharp situational humour and iconic characters played by Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Ranvir Shorey, Parvin Dabas and Vinay Pathak.
Now, according to Pinkvilla, the production of Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 is officially underway. The script, penned by Umesh Bist and his team, aims to continue the world of the Khosla family with the same comedic tone as the original. “Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 script is locked and presently in the casting stage. The team is aiming to start by November this year, for a 2026 release. Much like the first part, this one too is an outright comic entertainer,” a source close to the development revealed.
Huma Qureshi in talks to lead
Sources indicate that Huma Qureshi is in final talks to take on a leading role in the sequel. “Huma has come on board as one of the main characters of Khosla Ka Ghosla 2. She heard the script and loved what is on paper. The film will most likely be produced by T Series, and the modalities are being worked out at the moment,” the insider added. As of now, there is no official confirmation on whether Anupam Kher or Boman Irani will return for the sequel.
Huma Qureshi’s expanding slate of projects and new venture
If Huma signs on, Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 will join her growing roster of high‑profile attachments. She is already involved in Jolly LLB 3 and the forthcoming fourth season of the acclaimed OTT series Maharani. In a candid discussion at India Today’s Indo‑UAE conclave, she spoke about industry gatekeeping and how casting agents have urged her to take younger roles after her performance in Maharani and Tarla. She recounted, “You are such a beautiful woman. Why are you ageing yourself by playing these characters? Try to do younger parts.” She added that she prefers working on meaningful scripts rather than conforming to age‑based expectations.
Huma has also launched a production house with her brother Saqib Salim. Their first film, Baby Do Die Do, is scheduled to release soon, making her involvement in Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 particularly timely.

Interestingly, Huma is also part of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown‑Ups, directed by Geetu Mohandas and starring Yash, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, and Tara Sutaria. The gangster‑drama is scheduled to release on March 19, 2026, coinciding with Eid‑al‑Fitr and other festive occasions. That timing positions Toxic among major box office tentpoles next year, making Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 part of a pivotal moment in Qureshi’s 2026 rollout.
As more details emerge on casting and production schedules, anticipation is building both for fans of the original and those curious about Huma Qureshi’s evolving career.
