Trade analysts predict that the premiere collections alone will comfortably cross the USD 2 million mark. If the film receives positive word-of-mouth, it has a strong chance of becoming the highest-grossing Kollywood film ever in North America by the end of its first weekend.
War 2 Gains Momentum But Trails Significantly
In the other corner, the YRF Spy Universe actioner War 2 is also beginning to pick up steam. The film, which brings together Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR for the first time, has crossed the USD 308,000 mark in premiere pre-sales in North America. While this is a respectable number that gives the film an outside chance at a USD 1 million premiere, it currently trails Coolie by a significant margin.
Industry insiders suggest that the film’s “mixed marketing and confused positioning” may have contributed to a slower start compared to Jr NTR’s previous solo ventures in the region. The film will now rely heavily on positive reviews and strong weekend trends to close the gap on its formidable competitor.
