The buzz around the highly anticipated sequel, Cocktail 2, has just hit a new high. A social media post from actress Rashmika Mandanna has sparked a wave of speculation among fans, suggesting that the film has officially gone on floors. The sequel is set to feature a star-studded new cast including Rashmika, Shahid Kapoor, and Kriti Sanon.
The ‘Work In Progress’ Post
The rumour mill went into overdrive after Rashmika took to her Instagram Stories to reshare a post from the film’s director, Homi Adajania. The picture featured the actress playfully hiding her face, accompanied by a simple but telling caption: “Work in progress.” This immediately led fans to believe that she has begun shooting for Cocktail 2.
This new hint adds to a growing pile of evidence that preparations for the film are in full swing. Recently, Homi’s wife and celebrity stylist, Anaita Shroff Adajania, shared a glimpse of what appeared to be the Cocktail 2 script on her own social media. Around the same time, Kriti Sanon was also spotted leaving the office of Maddock Films, the production house backing the project, further fueling anticipation.
A Star-Studded New Trio
Homi Adajania, who helmed the original hit, returns to direct the sequel, which is being produced by Dinesh Vijan under his banner, Maddock Films. The film marks an exciting casting coup, bringing together Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna for the first time. This will also be Shahid and Kriti’s second on-screen collaboration after their successful pairing in the 2024 romantic comedy, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. Fans are eager to see the chemistry this new trio will bring to the screen.

The original Cocktail, released in 2012, was a cultural touchstone for its fresh and modern take on love, friendship, and urban relationships. The film, which starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty in a memorable love triangle, was lauded for its chart-topping music and became a breakout role for Deepika, cementing her status as a top-tier star. While details of the sequel’s plot are being kept under wraps, it is expected to offer a similarly contemporary story, targeting a theatrical release in the second half of 2026.
