Alia Bhatt is building a steady track record as a producer alongside her acting career. After delivering the critically acclaimed Darlings and the underperforming Jigra, she has locked her next feature under her Eternal Sunshine Pictures banner. Partnering with Chalkboard Entertainment, the company behind Gulmohar, Jaadugar, and The Mehta Boys, Alia is producing a high-concept coming-of-age drama for Amazon Prime Video.
Sreeti Mukerji Steps into the Director’s Chair
The yet-untitled film will be directed by Sreeti Mukerji, who makes her feature debut after assisting Ayan Mukerji on Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Brahmastra. The story is described as a vibrant campus drama in the spirit of Wake Up Sid, told from a girl’s perspective. Featuring mostly fresh young faces, the film will be set against the backdrop of an Indian college and will go on floors in October.
Alia’s Growing Relationship with Amazon Prime Video
This marks Alia’s first feature-film collaboration with Amazon Prime Video, following her role as executive producer on the widely praised crime drama series Poacher. The partnership signals her growing influence in the streaming space and her willingness to explore varied genres and formats as a storyteller.
Alia Bhatt: A Producer and An Actor
Alia made her producing debut with Netflix’s Darlings in 2022, which earned both critical acclaim and strong viewership. She is also backing the screen adaptation of Manju Kapur’s novel Difficult Daughters, which will be directed by her mother, Soni Razdan.
On the acting front, Alia will be seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. The film is expected to wrap by December and release in June 2026. She is also attached to Maddock Films’ horror-comedy Chamunda in 2026 and is in advanced discussions with Kalki 2898 AD director Nag Ashwin for a female-led, high-concept project.
Alia’s Alpha Makes Noise Before Release
While her production ventures expand, Alia remains equally committed to her big-screen outings. She headlines Yash Raj Films’ upcoming spy thriller Alpha opposite Sharvari Wagh, with Bobby Deol playing the antagonist. Set within the YRF Spy Universe and directed by Shiv Rawail, the film releases on December 25, 2025. Alia has undergone intensive physical training for the role, sustaining bruises during action sequences, a testament to her dedication.
