Prabhas’ The Raja Saab in Legal Trouble as Ivy Entertainment Sues People Media Factory Over Contract Breaches

The much-awaited Pan-India film The Raja Saab, starring Prabhas, has landed in the middle of a legal battle. Delhi-based Ivy Entertainment, a subsidiary of Ivy Holdings, has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court against Hyderabad-based co-producer People Media Factory Pvt Ltd (PMF), accusing the company of multiple contractual breaches. The petition seeks a permanent injunction and a refund of ₹218 crores invested in the project, along with 18 percent annual interest.

Ivy Entertainment Lists Multiple Breach Allegations

Ivy entered into a Film Rights Acquisition Agreement on January 25, 2023, and a Theatrical Rights Acquisition Agreement on March 10, 2023, with PMF. Under these contracts, Ivy acquired worldwide theatrical and non-theatrical rights to the film, secured co-presenter credits, and obtained contractual guarantees for returns.

According to a report in The Economic Times, Ivy Entertainment alleges that PMF failed to meet several critical obligations. These include not completing or releasing the film within the agreed timeline, failing to provide monthly production updates, not disclosing how funds were used, withholding agreed materials related to the film, and postponing the release multiple times without valid justification. The company claims that these actions triggered termination clauses in the agreements.

The petition also names PMF directors T. G. Vishwa Prasad and Subramanya Vivekananda Kuchibhotla, as well as several post-production vendors including Deccan Dreams Animations LLP, Prasad Xtreme Digital Cinema Network, Qube Cinema Technologies, and UFO Moviez. Ivy is seeking a court order preventing all named parties from handling or working on the film without its consent.

Release Plans and Producer’s Response

Despite the legal dispute, Ivy Entertainment has informed the court that it intends to complete production and release the film itself to safeguard its investment. The Raja Saab was initially slated for a December 5, 2025, release but is now expected to arrive in January 2026, likely during the Sankranthi festival. Producer T. G. Vishwa Prasad recently said, “See, I didn’t announce this publicly. But many people are of the view that it should be released for Sankranthi. Fans want that, as do Telugu business circles. There’s a strong proposal to release it on 9 January.”

He also noted that the Hindi business community preferred the December slot since there were no major releases planned then, but delays in post-production led to reconsideration. “The film will be ready by October, but we will take a call,” he said.

Big Budget and Sequel Plans

With a reported budget of ₹400 crores, The Raja Saab is being positioned as one of the most ambitious projects of Prabhas’ career. In addition to completing the current film, Vishwa Prasad has also confirmed plans for a sequel, although it will be set in a multiverse format rather than continuing the same storyline.
