MANILA, Philippines — Kianna Dy finally won her first-ever PVL title that came after a grueling recovery from a right knee injury she sustained almost two years ago.
From being on the sidelines since signing with PLDT last year to making her return in the past season, Dy got a taste of success in the pros after the High Speed Hitters survived the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in a dramatic PVL on Tour final, 25-17, 25-17, 19-25, 24-26, 15-8, on Sunday in front of 11,055 fans at Mall of Asia Arena.

The resurgent opposite spiker even delivered the title-sealing blow when she blocked Cess Robles to deliver PLDT’s maiden PVL crown.
“I’ve been waiting for this for more than a year now and I’m happy that I stayed patient. It wasn’t really easy, and literally blood, sweat, and tears, and finally this is our championship moment,” said Dy, who scored 13 points in the final.
The 30-year-old Dy took her act to PLDT with Majoy Baron and Kim Fajardo last year despite getting injured in the 2023 PVL Invitational Conference when she was leading the defunct F2 Logistics.
Winning a title again with her former La Salle and F2 teammates was a full-circle moment for Dy.

“Coming to PLDT was easy because I was with them (Majoy, Kim, and Mika Reyes). And also and not just because of them but the whole PLDT team was very welcoming and very patient with us coming into their team,” she said. “Being with Majoy and Ate Kim made it easier because I’ve been teammates with them ever since college so such a great feeling to win a championship with them again.”
Earning her first PVL title won’t stop Dy and the High Speed Hitters as they try to assert their mastery of the Crossovers in Thursday’s Invitationals opener, where they will also face Japanese teams, Kurashiki Ablaze and Kobe Shinwa University.
“It’s a new conference and two new teams so we’re just gonna work hard in training and bring what we got here, bring the confidence to the Invitationals,” she said.
