The case of 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro, missing from Yucaipa, California, has taken a troubling turn as authorities investigate potential foul play.

Emmanuel was reported missing on August 14, 2025, after his mother, Rebecca Haro, claimed she was attacked while changing his diaper in a parking lot outside a Big 5 Sporting Goods store. She alleged that she was knocked unconscious after a male voice said, “Hola.” Upon regaining consciousness, she said, her son was gone, and she couldn’t remember anything. Rebecca said she searched for Emmanuel in the nearby area before she called the police.

Inconsistencies emerge

Rebecca was subsequently photographed with injuries to her face, which she attributed to the attack. However, inconsistencies in her account have raised concerns among investigators.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, during interviews with Rebecca Haro, authorities identified discrepancies in her statements. As a result, she chose to end the interview and requested legal representation. The nature of Rebecca’s “discrepancies” has not been disclosed. Emmanuel’s father, Rebecca’s husband, Jake Haro, has also been interviewed.

The Sheriff’s Department has not ruled out foul play in Emmanuel’s disappearance. Recent reports indicate that cadaver dogs detected blood inside the Haro residence during a search conducted late on August 17. The source of the blood has reportedly not yet been determined.

According to Action Eye News Live on social media, authorities are also digging in the backyard of the home.

Meanwhile, the outlet reports—though unconfirmed—that the day before Emmanuel’s disappearance, the Haros inquired with Big 5 staff about whether the store’s security cameras covered the parking lot, citing a suspected break-in to their vehicle.

Several reports indicate that Big 5 did not have security cameras, leaving investigators unable to confirm Rebecca’s account of what happened. An Amber Alert was not issued in this case because there was no description of a suspect or a vehicle.

The community has rallied in support, with residents organizing vigils and search efforts. Investigators are continuing their efforts to locate the missing infant and determine the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

Uvalde Foundation for Kids called off its independent search and $5,000 reward after discovering an abuse case involving the child’s father. Furthermore, Emmanuel’s 2-year-old sister has been reportedly taken into the custody of Child Protective Services.
