The Screen Podcast is returning this Thursday (September 11) with a new format.

From analysis of top news stories to on-the-ground reporting from film festivals and the twists and turns of awards season, The Screen Podcast will take audiences behind the biggest talking points in the UK and international film industries.

This week’s episode focuses on Venice Film Festival’s hidden gems, starry guests and Gaza protests, and the team consider the impact of the backlash against Mubi’s controversial funding.

Hosted by contributing editor Wendy Mitchell, editor-in-chief Matt Mueller and deputy editor Louise Tutt, The Screen Podcast will also feature regular appearances from Screen’s global team of reporters and critics as well as special guests.

New episodes will be released every other Thursday. The Screen Podcast will be available to listen on Spotify, Apple, Soundcloud and, for the first time, audiences can also watch on YouTube.

Mueller said: “We’ve been running The Screen Podcast for a few years now, but I’ve always wanted to drop episodes at more regular and frequent intervals than London buses (you wait ages for one and then three come along at once).

“I look forward to discussing the issues that matter to the UK and international film industries with Wendy Mitchell, our host for the new-look podcast, and Screen’s deputy editor Louise Tutt as well as hearing the insights of our outstanding team of correspondents and critics. Our ambition is to make The Screen Podcast a must-listen for anyone interested in the inner workings of the international film industry, from festivals to production to streaming to awards season.”
