Shah Rukh Khan is once again proving why he is called King Khan, not just for his work on screen but also for his generosity off-screen. The superstar’s non-profit organization, Meer Foundation, is extending a helping hand to families affected by the severe floods in Amritsar. The foundation will be adopting 500 homes to help them rebuild their lives.
Rebuilding Homes And Lives In Amritsar
The Meer Foundation will be collaborating with a local, Amritsar-based NGO called Voice of Amritsar (VOA) to carry out the on-ground relief operations. The primary focus of this initiative will be the reconstruction work in two of the most devastated villages situated along the banks of the Ravi river. These areas were hit hard by the floods, with countless homes and belongings being completely wiped out. The joint project aims to bring much-needed support and hope to these families.
Providing Essential Household Goods
According to Seenu Arora, a founding member of VOA, the Meer Foundation’s support will be crucial in providing essential household items to the 500 adopted homes. The goal is to help families get back on their feet by distributing goods including beds, mattresses, gas stoves, fans, and water purifiers. This practical support is aimed at restoring a sense of normalcy for those who have lost everything in the disaster.
A Collaborative On-Ground Effort
Voice of Amritsar has already been working tirelessly on the ground, providing immediate relief like food, dry rations, medicines, and clothes to the affected people. Their team, which includes doctors from AIIMS, has been active in both the Amritsar and Gurdaspur districts. By partnering with an established local organization, Meer Foundation is ensuring that the aid reaches the people who need it the most in an effective and organized manner.
