Donald Trump can’t escape shadow of Jeffrey Epstein, even in the U.K. as King Charles castle plays host to the president’s past

How much longer can Donald Trump run from his past?

Donald Trump was likely hoping that his short break to visit the U.K. for a second state visit would provide some relief from the public cries demanding he release the Epstein files. But people aren’t letting it go, even in the U.K. it seems the president is incapable of escaping the notorious sex trafficker’s shadow.

On Tuesday night, a group of protesters were arrested in connection with footage that was projected onto the outside walls of Windsor Castle. The footage in question featured clips of Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, you know, the guy who Trump denies being friends with, talking, interacting,  and generally acting like friends.

Among other things a letter allegedly sent by Trump and addressed to Epstein was projected along with pictures of Prince Andrew on a walk with the New York financier as per The Guardian. A soundtrack questioning Trump and Epstein’s relationship was also played over a speaker.

The message is loud and clear: “we aren’t forgetting about your connection to Epstein.” The timing was spot on too with it being the same day Trump touched down in the U.K. and a day before the president was set to arrive at the castle to meet with King Charles.

It will no doubt cause some upset for the sensitive Donald who dislikes any mention of his former associate and just wants to brush the whole thing under the rug. But the people aren’t letting him, even when he’s on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.

The authorities got involved

The projection was a stunt by the political campaign group Led By Donkeys. Following the stunt, four were arrested by U.K. authorities on suspicion of malicious communications. A spokesperson for Led By Donkeys claimed that this was the first time anybody in the group had ever been arrested for simply projecting footage onto a wall.

“We’ve done, I reckon, 25 or 30 projections since we’ve been going. Often the police come along and we have a chat to them, and they even have a laugh with us and occasionally tell us to not do it.”

But this time was different, maybe it was because it was a castle belonging to the King, or maybe it was because Donald Trump is a thin-skinned crybaby who would have thrown a tantrum otherwise. I’m leaning towards thinking the latter.

The spokesperson called the arrests “Orwellian” as they were raising legitimate questions. But let’s not forget, Trump doesn’t like legitimate questions, they make him angry. The spokesperson also adds that it “says a lot more about the policing of Trump’s visit than it does about what we did.”
