Early Reviews Call Shah Rukh Khan’s Son’s Directorial Debut ‘Brave’ And ‘Entertaining’

The wait is finally over! The Bads of Bollywood, the highly anticipated directorial debut of Aryan Khan, has started streaming on Netflix today, September 18. Produced by Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, the show is a satirical comedy that takes a fun look at the inner workings of the Hindi film industry.

Ahead of its public release, a special screening was held for industry insiders, and the first reviews are pouring in, with many calling the show a “winner.”

What Is ‘The Bads of Bollywood’ About?

The series offers a hilarious take on the two kinds of people who rule Bollywood: those born in a hero’s home (the insiders) and those who are born heroes (the outsiders). The outsider’s journey is represented by actor Lakshya (of Kill fame), who is supported by his best friend, played by Raghav Juyal. The insider perspective comes from Sahher Bambba, who plays the daughter of a top superstar, essayed by Bobby Deol. The show explores their ambitions, struggles, and the hilarious chaos of the film world.

A Star-Studded Affair

While Aryan Khan, a USC film school graduate, takes the director’s chair, the show is packed with talent. The cast includes Mona Singh, Manoj Pahwa, Gautami Kapoor, and Rajat Bedi. Adding to the excitement, the series also features special appearances by some of the biggest names in the industry, including Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh, and Shah Rukh Khan himself.

First Reviews Are In: Bollywood Gives A Thumbs Up

The show has received a very warm welcome from the film fraternity. Producer Sunita Gowariker praised Aryan on Instagram, writing, “Kudos for making such an amazing, entertaining, funny series… you have outdone yourself.”

Director Rahul Dholakia was also highly impressed. He wrote on X, “What an entertaining and spoofy goofy first episode… Bhai Binge Karna padega!!! Congratulations… You have truly entertained.” He also praised the hard work that went into the show, mentioning it was in the making for about six years.

Choreographer-director Farah Khan, who worked on the show, shared a heartfelt post for Aryan, calling him the “kindest, sweetest, talented n most hardworking director.”

With a unique premise, a stellar cast, and such positive early reactions, Aryan Khan’s directorial debut seems to be off to a flying start.
