Each week, we highlight the region’s best pro performances from the standout alumni veterans and rookies

Here are my choices for the best of them.

Top NFL Performances

1. Cam Skattebo, RB, Giants/Arizona State (R)

The running back from ASU continues to impress in his rookie campaign.

Cam SkatteboCam SkatteboIn the upset win over the Eagles, Skattebo ran for 98 yards and three touchdowns and added another 12 yards receiving on a pair of catches.

In the last four games, the Giants have posted a 4-4 mark while he has found the endzone four times, averaging 106.3 yards from scrimmage.

2. Justin Herbert, QB, Chargers/Oregon

Herbert completed 29 of 38 pass attempts (76.3 percent) for 264 yards and two Justin Herbert 2Justin Herbert 2touchdowns with a 112.2 passer rating in the Chargers’ 29-27 win at Miami.

The former Duck now has 35 career games with at least two touchdown passes and a passer rating of 100 or higher.

He joins Patrick Mahomes (44 games) and Russell Wilson (36) as the only players with at least 35 such games in their first six seasons in NFL history.

3. Christian McCaffrey, RB, 49ers/Stanford

Christian McCaffreyChristian McCaffreyThe former Cardinal had seven receptions, 111 scrimmage yards (57 receiving, 54 rushing) and a rushing touchdown in the 49ers’ loss to the Buccaneers.

The former Stanford great is the first running back in NFL history with at least 50 receiving yards in each of his team’s first six games of a season.

McCaffrey joins Marshall Faulk as the only players ever with at least 50 rushing yards and 50 receiving yards in five of their team’s first six games of a season.

4. Kendrick Bourne, WR, 49ers/Eastern Washington

Kendrick BourneKendrick BourneThe former EWU Eagle is stepping up in a big way for the banged-up Niners.

In the loss to Tampa Bay, he had his second consecutive 142-yard receiving game. That total matched his career high, set in week five.

It is the first time in his career that he has posted consecutive 100-yard games.

5. Talanoa Hufanga, S, Broncos/USC

Talanoa HufangaTalanoa HufangaThe former Trojan had another good week as the Broncos’ defense shut down the Jets in London.

In the 13-11 win, he collected five tackles with a sack, a pair of tackles behind the line, along with a hit on QB Justin Fields and one pass defended.

6. Uchenna Nwosu, LB,  Seahawks/USC

Uchenna NwosuUchenna NwosuIn the 20-12 win over Jacksonville, the former Trojan LB tallied four tackles with 1.5 sacks and four QB hits.

He now has four sacks in the last three games, marking his highest single-season total in sacks since getting 9.5 in the 2022 season.

7. Drake London, WR, Falcons/USC

Drake London mugDrake London mugThe former Trojan had a huge night in the Monday Night win over the Bills.

London caught 10 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown as the Falcons knocked off Buffalo.

8. Nate Landman, LB, Rams/Colorado (R)

The former Buffalo logged 17 tackles, nine of them solo, both numbers established new career highs for the rookie from Colorado.

He also got pressure on Cooper Rush once with a quarterback hit.

9. Rachaad White, RB, Buccaneers/Arizona State

Rachaad WhiteRachaad WhiteThe former Sun Devil ran for 65 yards and a touchdown in the Bucs’ win over the 49ers.

White also added 21 yards on three receptions.

10. Carson Schwesinger, LB, Browns/UCLA (R)

Carson SchwesingerCarson SchwesingerThe rookie out of UCLA had a productive game in the Browns’ loss to the Steelers.

The linebacker made plays from sideline to sideline, collecting eight tackles, one of them for a loss, and had a hit on Aaron Rodgers.

11. Aaron Rodgers, QB, Steelers/Cal

Aaron RodgersAaron RodgersThe veteran from Cal got the Steelers a 23-9 win over Cleveland.

In the win, the former Golden Bear connected on 70 percent of his passes for 235 yards and a pair of touchdown passes.

12. Caleb Williams, QB, Bears/USC

Caleb WilliamsCaleb WilliamsThe second year man out of USC brought the Bears back for a win in Washington on Monday Night.

The former Trojan threw for 252 yards and a TD while adding a score on the ground.

A quarter of the way through the season, he has the Bears within a half game of the division lead despite being outscored by 15 points.

Other Notable Veteran Performers and Rookies

Jacory Croskey-Merritt, RB, Commanders/Arizona (R)—68 total yards in the loss to the Bears.

Bobby Wagner, LB, Commanders/Utah State—9 tackles, 4 solo and one tackle for loss.

Frankie Luvu, LB, Commanders/Washington State–6 tackles, a sack and one pass defended.

Michael Penix Jr., QB, Falcons/Washington—threw for 250 yards and 1 touchdown in the win over the Bills.

Jordan Love, QB, Packers/Utah State—threw for 259 yards with 1 TD and added 26 yards rushing.

Tez Johnson, WR, Buccaneers/Oregon (R)—scored his first NFL touchdown on a 45 yard reception.

Ashton Jeanty, RB, Raiders/Boise State (R)—75 yards rushing with 1 TD and 11 yards receiving.

Trey McBride, TE, Cardinals/Colorado State—8 receptions for 72 yards and a TD.

Sam Darnold, QB, Seahawks/USC—295 yards passing with 2 TDs.

Teddye Buchanan, LB, Ravens/California (R)—recorded 9 tackles and .5 sack.

Arik Armstead, DE, Jaguars/Oregon—4 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 sack and 1 QB hit

Tetairoa McMillian, WR, Panthers/Arizona (R)—29 yards on 3 receptions and scored 2 TDs, his first in the NFL.
