Hazardous Waste Collection in Denver –

By Idelle, March 21, 2024

I was having a hard time finding out where to dispose of hazardous waste such as an old can of paver waterproofer or used oil in Denver. I was surprised that I could not find a drop off location in Denver, but I did find the Waste Management number 1-800-449-7587 and was told that I could pay $15 for a curbside pickup, and they mail a bag and labels and a zip tie to label the material. They said that a drop-off location was not an option – however, the guy who came by for our curbside waste pickup said that we can drop off hazardous waste at their facility at 3730 E 48th Avenue in Denver by appointment only.

Drop offs are reserved for people who people who are moving and have time constraints so cannot schedule a pickup.

I called and they confirmed that yes, you can drop off hazardous waste at their facility if it’s necessary due to time constraints, though they limit it to 10 drop offs a day. The best way is to schedule a pickup. The cost is the same, $15. Either way, you do have to make appointments to do a drop off (or schedule a pickup). The drop off location allows for larger drop offs than residential curbside pickup, so if you have a lot of materials this is the way to go.
