Superstar Aamir Khan is empirical.
In an honest and fiery conversation with the media on June 4, the actor-producer gave a stark reply and silence to trolls regarding the news of him adapting the Spanish film Campeones into Sitaare Zameen Par. Aamir, referring to the trolls, labelled them as “bakwaas baatein” and stated that he enjoys remakes, and he will make them.
“I Believe In Remakes, and I’ll Do It My Whole Life.”
Aamir did not accept the meaningless narrative that remakes are not original and said:
“Laal Singh Chaddha wasn’t my only remake, Ghajini was a remake, and it was a blockbuster. Even Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak is inspired by Romeo & Juliet. From the 1970s until now, many of the biggest hits have been remakes. That’s a fact.”
He explained:
“People say it’s cut-paste. If it’s cut-paste why don’t you do it? You can’t, it’s not easy. You need to have soul in a story, Shakespeare is remade and adapted many times over. Why not a Spanish film that touched me emotionally?”
“I Want To Tell These Stories To An Indian Audience.”
Aamir explained passionately why Campeones as an adaptation is made:
“How many of you watch Spanish movies? Most of us don’t. I saw something so beautiful in the story that I thought, why not bring it home? Should I not make this a movie that promotes inclusion just because its first time was made somewhere else?”
His analogy hit hard:
“You may not like aubergine. But you love baingan ka bharta. I’m taking a global story from other regions of the world and providing the desi flavour you love.”
“Imagine A Child With Autism Not Being Invited To A Birthday Party.”
Aamir became visibly emotional when he described the heart of the film:
“Think about a child who has Down Syndrome who is not invited to a birthday party. What did his mother say in answer to him asking her, ‘Why?’ Now that broke my heart. I needed to make this movie.”
“But Sitaare Zameen Par isn’t just a movie, it is a reflection of society. I don’t care if it’s a remake, I care that the message is conveyed.”

Box Office Worldwide Verdict
Aamir Khan‘s attack on critics isn’t simply a response – it is a lesson in cinematic compassion. In an era of petty trolling, Aamir punctuates the point that remakes — where intentions are pure — are not merely acceptable; they are indeed necessary.
Sitaare Zameen Par is more than a remake; it is an obligation.
