The songs in the new movie Saiyaara are a big hit, and choreographer Vijay Ganguly is getting a lot of praise for his work. In a new interview, he shared a secret about the film’s special end-credit song, ‘Saiyaara Reprise – Female’, which has become a fan favorite. It turns out the touching song was almost not in the movie at all.
The film stars newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, and the final song gives their love story a perfect ending, which is why so many people are staying in their seats to watch it.
A Last-Minute Masterstroke
Vijay Ganguly revealed that the song was a last-minute idea from producer Aditya Chopra. Less than a month before the film was set to release, Aditya felt the movie needed “closure” to show the audience what happened to the characters in the end. So, the team had to rush to get it done.
“We had just one day to shoot patchwork and also the song,” Vijay said. This created a huge challenge, as the team had very little time to prepare, and it was raining heavily, making it hard to find a good location to film.
The Clever Trick Of Close-Up Shots
With no time and bad weather, director Mohit Suri told Vijay to focus only on the actors’ emotions, not on a big, fancy location. This led to a very clever idea. The team decided to shoot the entire wedding-themed song using only close-up shots of the actors.
“If you see the song, all shots are close-ups!” Vijay explained. “After I told people about it, they had to see it again and that’s when they realized that there’s no wide shot in that song at all.” The trick worked because the emotions felt so real. Instead of a grand set, the entire song was shot in a small bungalow in Madh Island, proving that a powerful story doesn’t always need a big budget.
