Saiyaara’l sensation Aneet Padda’s next release is an intense courtroom drama
As per reports in PeepinMoon.com, Aneet, like her co-star Ahaan Panday in Mohit Suri’s runaway hit, remains exclusive to Yash Raj Films under a three-film contract. However, the courtroom drama titled Nyaya is a non-YRF project that the 22-year-old actress had shot for before bagging her career-defining role in Saiyaara.
Aneet stars alongside Fatima Sana Sheikh and Arjun Mathur in this fictionalized series inspired by real-life incidents. The show was filmed last year and is now slated to premiere on a major OTT platform soon. It promises to be a gripping story about the complexities of faith and the law. Fatima plays a determined police officer, while Aneet takes on the gritty role of a 17-year-old girl fighting for justice after being sexually assaulted by a powerful spiritual leader.
The intense, emotionally-charged narrative is expected to spark conversations around the misuse of religious influence and the resilience of victims in their pursuit of justice. Aneet, who won over audiences with her turn as the soft-spoken, heartbroken songwriter Vaani Batra in Saiyaara, makes a dramatic shift with this role, and those who have seen the footage of Nyaya are already raving about her powerful performance.
Produced by Sameer Nair’s Applause Entertainment in association with Mangata Films, Nyaya has been directed by Baar Baar Dekho and Made in Heaven fame Nitya Mehra along with her husband, filmmaker Karan Kapadia.
The duo directed Aneet in last year’s Amazon Prime Video series, Big Girls Don’t Cry, making Nyaya their second collaboration with the actress. The show also features Arjun Mathur, Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub, Raghubir Yadav, and Rajesh Sharma in pivotal roles.
