After the quirky reveal of Varun Dhawan as the ‘sanskari’ Sunny, Dharma Productions has now dropped the first look of Janhvi Kapoor as Tulsi Kumari — the heroine of their upcoming rom-com Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, set to release in cinemas on October 2, 2025.
Tulsi Kumari: Bholi Bhaali Outside, Filmy Inside
Unveiling Janhvi’s poster on Instagram, the makers wrote: “Dikhne mein bholi bhaali, chanchal pyaari… Lekin andar se melodramatic like Meena Kumari!!!”
Draped in a traditional gold saree, Tulsi Kumari’s look channels vintage glam with a playful wink. The caption, a nod to her character’s dramatic flair, serves as a fun counterpoint to Varun Dhawan’s sanskari Sunny reveal from earlier in the day.
Varun Dhawan’s character debut as “Sunny Sanskari” was revealed today with a vibrant poster: Varun poses in embroidered cream attire, shades, and folded hands, accompanied by poetic lines (“Yeh aansoon hain mere… baarish ka kya bharosa…”) that hint at the film’s playful yet emotional tone.
First-time Trio: Janhvi, Varun, and Shashank Come Together
While Varun Dhawan and Shashank Khaitan are teaming up for their third film after Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania, this is the first time Janhvi Kapoor is working with them as a pair. She was directed by Khaitan in her debut Dhadak, and shared screen space with Varun in Bawaal, but this marks their first outing as a trio.
October 2 Holiday Release Aims For Family Audiences
Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is slated for release on October 2, 2025, strategically timed around the Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra holidays.

Star-Packed Ensemble and Vibrant Filming
Joining Dhawan are Janhvi Kapoor—as the enigmatic Tulsi Kumari—alongside Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Maniesh Paul, and Akshay Oberoi in significant roles . The film’s production has taken teams from Mumbai to Udaipur on a multi-week schedule, capturing scenic wedding festivities and lively, colourful song sequences.
Originally slated for April 18, 2025, the release was pushed to September 12 before being moved again to October 2. The team extended shooting to enhance the film with grander destination-wedding moments and additional songs . While reasons for the delays remain undisclosed, the extra craftsmanship signals a more polished, evocative romcom.
What Audiences Can Expect
Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is shaping up to be a full‑blown romantic comedy rooted in tradition but with a contemporary spark. Every prior Dhawan–Khaitan collaboration has delivered wit, warmth, and on‑screen chemistry—this one aims to elevate the formula further, combining a strong ensemble, colourful visuals, and heartfelt storytelling.
Backed by Dharma Productions and Mentor Disciple Entertainment in association with Aadar Poonawalla, the film also stars Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Maniesh Paul, and Akshay Oberoi. Music is composed by Tanishk Bagchi with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya.
