The Final Chapter Unfolds: The Endgame Begins For Vijay Salgaonkar
Ajay Devgn is returning to his well-known character of the mysterious Vijay Salgaonkar, as Drishyam 3 is ready to start filming on October 2, 2025, and release on October 2, 2026. Abhishek Pathak will direct the film after taking the successful Drishyam 2 helm, who aims to finish the compelling conclusion for the franchise.
The date of Gandhi Jayanti holds very emotional and thematic connotations for the Drishyam series — Drishyam 2 was set around October 2 and now this date has become tied to Salgaonkar’s events in crime, cover-up, and cunning.
This will be a marathon three-month shoot across Maharashtra
Sources have informed that the production will shoot at the original locations around Maharashtra, in addition to a considerable amount of studio shooting as well. Ajay Devgn is already working to block his calendar to accommodate the scheduled shooting. The dialogue is still being worked over, and the script is locked.
The entire original cast of Shriya Saran, Tabu, Ishita Dutta, and Rajat Kapoor is expected to return in order to tie up the suspense saga that began in 2015.
Remake or Original? The Mystery Grows
While the original Hindi Drishyam films were adapted from the Malayalam versions starring Mohanlal, there is no clarity on whether Drishyam 3 will be an adaptation of the upcoming Malayalam third part or be a completely original follow-up by the Hindi team.
Sources indicate clarification being revealed by the end of July 2025. Reportedly, both scenarios will be worked on, and the decision will depend on which script has a larger and better market before going into production.
Ajay Devgn’s Busy Schedule Ahead
Ajay Devgn is expected to complete filming the upcoming Total Dhamaal 2 and Ranger before he begins work on Drishyam 3. He is then scheduled to begin work on Golmaal FIVE and the highly anticipated Shaitaan 2 in early 2026. He is also in the early stages of discussions for a few films that haven’t yet been publicly announced.
