Akshay Kumar Sends “Mahadev Ki Blessing” To Ajay Devgn And Kajol As Kannappa Clashes With Maa Next Friday

With two big films arriving in theatres this Friday, Akshay Kumar took a moment earlier this week to wish Ajay Devgn and Kajol the best for their upcoming film Maa. The tweet comes just days before Akshay’s own film Kannappa releases on the same day.

Sharing a short clip from Maa, Akshay posted:
“Yaar Ajay hum dono ki picture aa rahi hai iss Friday. Tu apne fans ki good wishes #Kannappa ko bhej de aur main mere Mahadev ki blessing #Maa ko. Kya bolta hai? 😬
Goodluck to Kajol and you bhai…May the power be with you. 😊 @ajaydevgn @itsKajolD”

The post gained quick traction online, with fans appreciating the show of support.

Maa Extends the Shaitaan Universe

Produced by Ajay Devgn and directed by Vishal Furia, Maa stars Kajol in the lead as a mother who channels the powers of goddess Kali to protect her daughter from a sinister force. The film expands the supernatural universe established in Devgn’s 2024 hit Shaitaan.

Maa is being released in multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali. Kajol has clarified that while the film belongs to the same universe, it is a standalone story with no crossover cameos.

The trailer, released in May, was met with strong reactions for its atmospheric visuals and mythological horror tone.

Akshay Appears as Lord Shiva in Kannappa

Kannappa, a Telugu-language mythological action film, features Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva in a significant role. Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, the film stars Vishnu Manchu in the lead, with a cast that includes Prabhas, Mohanlal, and Kajal Aggarwal.

This project marks Akshay’s debut in Telugu cinema. The film is positioned as a large-scale devotional drama and is also releasing on June 27.

Two Distinct Films, One Release Date

While both films arrive on the same day, they belong to very different genres and cater to different audiences. Maa taps into Hindi-language horror with a mythological angle, while Kannappa is a Telugu devotional epic with a pan-India cast.

Akshay’s tweet acknowledged the overlap in release dates without turning it into a clash, offering a light and respectful gesture towards his longtime industry colleague.

With both Maa and Kannappa releasing on June 27, the weekend promises two contrasting cinematic experiences for audiences across regions.
