Alas Pilipinas put up a tough fight but still fell to Thailand, 25-22, 25-17, 24-26, 25-16, Saturday in the second leg of the SEA V.League in Vietnam.
The Filipino spikers slid to 0-2 but not before stealing a set from the powerhouse Thais after ruling the extended third frame.
SCHEDULE: Alas Pilipinas Women at SEA V.League – Leg 2
This was the second time in this iteration of the four-nation tournament that Alas Pilipinas dragged Thailand into an extended game after losing a four-setter last week.
Angel Canino led that third-set fightback, scoring back-to-back points including a kill block that extended the match after the Thais raced to a 2-0 set lead.
In that set, the Philippines rallied from an early four-point deficit and edged Thailand in attacks, 17-16 and blocks, 3-1.

Alas Pilipinas managed to keep its scrappy showing in the fourth set, even taking the lead, 8-9, on a point from Shaina Nitura before Thailand got its act together and strung a 7-1 run that brought the momentum to its side for good.
The Thais, who struggled with their error-prone showing in the opening set, peppered the Philippine side with running attacks to keep their clean record in the tournament intact and improve 2-0 in Leg 2.
They face Vietnam for the gold on Sunday.
The Filipinos, meanwhile, face a must-win against Indonesia–a team which they beat for bronze last week–to keep their podium streak in the SEA V.League alive.
Alas Pilipinas dropped its opening match to the hosts Vietnamese on Friday night.
