Brad Pitt Starrer Jumps On Day Two In India, Collects More Than Kajol’s Maa Again And Set For 20 Crore Plus Opening Weekend

Brad Pitt and Damson Idris starrer F1: The Movie has opened well in India. The movie is seeing good footfalls in the IMAX version and was expected to jump over weekend and that’s what happened.

F1 released alongside Kajol’s Maa. Film collected 4.15 crore net in PVR Inox which is more than Sitaare Zameen Par (3.88 crore) and Maa (2.23 crore). Film showed a solid 40 percent growth on its second day at the box office after a superb first day of Rs 5.25 crore. With Rs 7.25 crore net on day 2, the total of F1 stands at Rs 12.50 crore and by the end of the weekend, it should be Rs 20 – 21 crore net.

F1 Beats Pre-Release Predictions Rather Comfortably

The global numbers of F1 through Friday have come and they are around USD 64.50 million. A global weekend pushing to USD 150 million is what is expected now. The opening weekend projections prior to the release were around USD 100 million and they shall be crushed rather comfortably, now.

Day 1: 5.25 cr

Day 2: 7.25 cr

Total: 12.50 crore net

The movie based in and around the F1 circuit and track drivers becoming the second highest Hollywood opener in India after Tom Cruise starrer Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning.

Pitt stars as former F1 driver Sonny Hayes, who returns to the sport to partner rookie team mate Joshua Pearce, played by Damson Idris, at the fictional APXGP team. Filming of F1 has taken place at real events, including at 2024’s season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

What Brad Pitt said about making F1

“I’ve been trying to get a racing movie done for 20 years. I’ve tried bikes, I’ve tried cars, I’ve tried different disciplines, and for whatever reason they never came to fruition”, the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood star shared.

“We got a great push behind us (for this film), people were more and more interested (in F1), so we could get (a company) like Apple to come in and really support us. F1 is directed by Joseph Kosinski of Top Gun: Maverick fame.
