Call for science journalists: Join GDC-2025 in France

Are you a science journalist eager to explore cutting-edge academic research and engage in meaningful conversations on global development? Here’s your chance to participate in high-level, inclusive, and evidence-driven discussions on today’s most pressing development challenges.

GlobalDev, an initiative of the Global Development Network (GDN), invites applications from science journalists to take part in the Global Development Conference (GDC) 2025, to be held from October 28–30, 2025, in Clermont-Ferrand, France.

GlobalDev is dedicated to strengthening the research communication capacity of academics, offering training programs and publishing opportunities that amplify their work for broader audiences. At GDC-2025, selected journalists will receive a travel grant, accommodation and exclusive access to special sessions during GDN’s flagship event, which this year focuses on the theme: ‘Inclusive Digital Transformation: Social Impacts and Technological Innovations.’

Participants will have the unique opportunity to:

  • Interact with a global, interdisciplinary mix of researchers, academics, policymakers, and development practitioners
  • Attend capacity-building workshops designed to enhance communication and storytelling around complex development topics.
  • Contribute to the co-design of collaborative training programs that bridge the gap between research and media.

We particularly encourage applications from women journalists, those from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), and individuals from underserved communities.

Take part in shaping global conversations—and help make research more accessible, impactful, and inclusive.
