San Miguel Beer veteran Chris Ross was taken aback by comments made by TNT team manager Jojo Lastimosa that came after their disagreement at the end of Game 4 of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals.

“I’m not a nice guy??!” Ross said on X, the social media app formerly known as Twitter. “You have no clue who I am As a person.”

Ross was seen consoling a hobbled Poy Erram after the Beermen’s 105-91 win at SM Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday when a visibly-upset Lastimosa told him to go straight back to the dugout.

Lastimosa later said that Ross was “not a nice guy,” and “a complainer,” adding that he was also taunting the TNT bench during what had been a back-and-forth affair before the Beermen were able to pull away.

“He has this habit of taunting this area,” said Lastimosa. “And then, he doesn’t admit his habit of complaining too much. He comes up over here and he would look at the wives and girlfriends over here and acting like he’s a good guy.”

Lastimosa had earlier expressed his frustration with Jericho Cruz over what he felt were disrespectful antics by San Miguel’s Game 4 hero during the final seconds when the outcome was already settled.

But Ross retorted he was more than “respectful” toward anyone, including Lastimosa.

“The few times we spoke I was as respectful as I could be like my pops taught me,” Ross continued. “I didn’t do anything disrespectful to the wives they were all cussing at me which was uncalled for.

Erram played through a swollen right ankle and later a sore left knee in his return in Game 4, but it was enough for TNT to equal the series, prompting Ross to give his plaudits after the buzzer sounded, followed by the unusual exchange.

“I was checking on Poy all game asking if he was ok and after the game he was sitting alone so I told him how I felt about him, appreciating his courage to play but a group of people behind the bench starting cursing at me,” Ross said in another X post.

“But I’m the bad person?? Keep it on the court.”
