The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday that the Department of Justice reviewed a suggestive letter allegedly written by President Donald Trump to Jeffrey Epstein in 2003. The letter has become part of the DOJ’s investigation into the convicted sex offender.
According to Politico, the letter was reportedly included in a birthday message book arranged by Ghislaine Maxwell for Epstein’s 50th birthday. Maxwell was later convicted in 2019 for helping Epstein abuse minors and remains the only Epstein associate currently serving prison time
Trump strongly denied writing the letter, telling the Journal, “I never wrote a picture in my life. I don’t draw pictures of women. It’s not my language, it’s not my words.” The president has threatened legal action against the newspaper if it publishes the story.
New details emerge about the controversial birthday message
According to the Journal, the letter contained typewritten text with a drawing of a naked woman, and Trump’s signature appeared below the woman’s waist. The message allegedly wished Epstein a happy birthday and included the phrase “may every day be another wonderful secret.”
The report comes at a sensitive time, following the Justice Department’s recent announcement that it would not release background materials from the Epstein investigation. This decision has upset many who hoped for more information about the case.
Vice President JD Vance and far-right activist Laura Loomer have publicly defended Trump. Vance called the story “complete and utter bullshit” on social media, questioning why the letter wasn’t shown to them before publication. Loomer argued that Trump doesn’t typically type letters, suggesting the message was fake.
While Trump and Epstein’s connection has been documented in investigation files, the president has not been accused of any wrongdoing related to the case, though a former lawyer who represented both men claimed Epstein had ‘no information’ on Trump, a statement that has raised more suspicions. Though Trump had previously spoken positively about Epstein before his first arrest in 2006, he has since minimized their relationship.
