A Harris County sheriff’s deputy, who shared a now-deleted viral TikTok post using internet slang to say she was sexually frustrated and would be issuing “everyone” tickets, is under an ethics investigation.
Although her name and badge are blurred in the video, the New York Post identified her as Jennifer Escalera, a Harris County Sheriff’s deputy with approximately four years of service. It’s unclear how old she is. Her TikTok account has since been deleted, but she reportedly shared content about her work in law enforcement and her life as a mother. Often in uniform, Escalera’s name was visible in other social media posts she made.
Referring to the video, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office told Houston’s Fox 26, “Our administration is aware and internal affairs has opened an investigation. We have no other comment at this time.”
“It’s very unprofessional”
One anonymous Harris County resident told Fox 26, “It’s very unprofessional. You shouldn’t be doing things like that. When you’re a professional, you carry yourself a certain way. What you do outside of work is cool, but I don’t think she should’ve done that.”
Although Escalera’s post has been deleted, it was shared on the Houston Chronicle’s Houston City Beat Instagram, where comments echoed the Harris County resident. “I’m sure that she is joking, although she made a bad choice to put this out there,” the comment said. “I don’t think she should be fired for it, but they should definitely tell her to stay off social media when it comes to her job.”
A source later told TMZ she didn’t write anyone any tickets the day of the TikTok post. And a Harris County spokesperson confirmed though Escalera is under investigation, she’s still on active duty.
