Hrithik Roshan And Jr NTR Starrer YRF’s War 2 Jumps By 45% On Day Two, Set To Cross 70 Crore Net Hindi And 150 Crore Worldwide Gross Despite Mixed Reviews

War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji and starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani, hit theatres on 14 August 2025 as part of the YRF Spy Universe. Mounted on a massive budget and positioned as one of the year’s biggest event films, it was expected to open strong across India.

With a reported budget of ₹400 crore, it is among the most expensive Indian films ever made. Featuring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR in his Hindi debut, and Kiara Advani, expectations were sky-high, especially after massive pre‑release marketing and earlier blockbusters like War and Pathaan from Spy Universe.

In an epic box office clash, Rajinikanth’s Coolie and Hrithik Roshan’s War 2 were released together on August 14. Despite stiff competition, both films had superb openings, leaving the makers hopeful that the Independence Day weekend would provide an extra surge to the films’ collection.

War 2 Jumps On Day Two Despite Mixed Reviews

Spy Universe film War 2 managed to defy mixed reviews and negative word of mouth to an extent. After collecting 29.50 crore net on day one, film jumped by 45% today on day two which is excellent result though this growth came primarily due to big national holiday. Still with 41 – 42 crore net on day two, film stands at 70 – 72 crore net total.

War 2 Heads For A Rs 300 Crore Worldwide Weekend

The Hindi language collections of War 2 in India are Rs 29 crore net (Rs 36 crore gross), while the Telugu collections are Rs 25 crore gross. The collections from Tamil are almost negligible. The collections from overseas are USD 2.4 million (Rs 20.75 crore), with USD 1 million coming from premieres and USD 1.4 million coming on the first day.

War 2 will be trending well over the weekend. It should be sitting comfortably at over Rs 300 crore worldwide by the end of Sunday. It’s hold in the subsequent days will determine what it can do in its lifetime. A Rs 500 crore worldwide should be a face-saving result, but that won’t be easy if the movie fails to sustain on Monday.

The Road Ahead For War 2

The next three days will be critical for War 2. With the Independence Day holiday and a weekend ahead, there is still room for the film to pick up momentum. However, the below par start means it will need a strong surge in collections to meet expectations and sustain beyond the first week.
