Leeds United have signed of Slovenia defender Jaka Bijol from Udinese for £15m.
The 26-year-old centre-back has signed a five-year contract at the promoted Premier League club.
Bijol becomes Leeds’ second arrival of the summer after the announcement they had agreed a deal to sign striker Lukas Nmecha on a free transfer from German club Wolfsburg.
The defender, who underwent a medical with Leeds last Wednesday, had attracted interest from a number of other clubs.
Bijol has made 63 appearances for Slovenia and played a key role at Euro 2024, where they held England to a goalless draw in the group stage before losing on penalties to Portugal in the last 16.
Leeds seal deal for Nmecha on a free transfer
Earlier this month, Leeds agreed a deal to sign Nmecha on a free transfer when his contract expires at VfL Wolfsburg.
The 26-year-old forward will officially become a Leeds United player on July 1 and was the first confirmed arrival for Farke’s side of the summer transfer window, having spent the last four years playing in the Bundesliga.
The forward began his career in Manchester City’s academy and made his Premier League debut in 2018, before then gaining further experience on loan at Preston North End, Middlesbrough and Anderlecht.
Having also spent time on loan with Wolfsburg, he then made the move permanent and has since played 73 games.
Nmecha is a full Germany international, making seven caps for his country.
