JOHNNY’S FIVE:
David Gravel
Why: Until proven otherwise, number one on this list every week. The defending champ is doing historical things. He has two career World of Outlaws wins at River Cities (though he finished out of the top five at both stops last year).
Donny Schatz
Why: “Home cooking” serves Donny well: 12 wins and 29 top five in 34 River Cites appearances. A stop in Grand Forks always seems to be a cure for anything that ails the 10-time champion.
Sheldon Haudenschild
Why: Stop me if you’ve heard this before: Sheldon has finished second here THREE times, but has yet to win at River Cites. He scored podium finishes both nights last year. Could this be his chance to break through to Victory Lane?
Carson Macedo
Why: Macedo is the most recent World of Outlaws winner at River Cities and has two wins in Grand Forks. A win at Atomic Speedway on Monday has the Jason Johnson Racing No. 41 team pointed back in the right direction.
Mark Dobmeier
Why: He’s a three-time World of Outlaws winner, but has never topped The Greatest Show on Dirt at his home track, where he has an astounding 158 career wins (including one this season). The River Cities Speedway points leader would love nothing more than to get the Grand Forks monkey off his back.
