MANILA, Philippines — Jyne Soreño looks forward to joining former La Salle stars Ara Galang and Aby Maraño as she embarks on a new journey with the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in the PVL.
Soreño, one of La Salle’s reliable hitters for the past four UAAP seasons, was selected by Chery Tiggo as the eighth overall pick of this year’s PVL Rookie Draft on Sunday at Novotel.

Like her fellow Lady Spiker Alleiah Malaluan, who will have Majoy Baron, Kianna Dy, Kim Fajardo, and Mika Reyes welcoming her at PLDT, Soreño relished teaming up with Galang and Maraño
“I’m really excited because we trained with F2 Logistics since senior high school in La Salle. So now, I’m really looking forward to being with them again. We’ve built a strong connection,” Soreño told reporters in Filipino.
In the past two years, Soreño and the Lady Spikers have no longer been training with F2 Logistics since the latter’s disbandment, with its players joining different squads.
But the versatile spiker believes that the connection is still there.
“Even if we haven’t been together for months or years, especially now that F2 isn’t in the PVL anymore. But the bond is still there because of our shared La Salle roots, the ‘Animo La Salle’ spirit,” she said.

Being under coach Ramil De Jesus’ system from high school to college, Soreño seeks to learn more from Chery Tiggo coaches Norman Miguel and KungFu Reyes, who were calling the shots of their UAAP rivals.
“I feel so blessed to have this opportunity, from Coach Ramil to Coach Norman. The system and lessons I learned from them, I still carry with me,” she said.
Soreño joins a deep wing spiker rotation, with Galang, Shaya Adorador, Mylene Paat, Jules Samonte, Mary Rhose Dapol, and Cess Robles.
Chery Tiggo also drafted Erika Deloria from Enderun in the second round and Ren Peñafiel and Reyann Cañete in the last two rounds.
