Are things about to look different at Marvel HQ?

A seismic shift may be on the horizon for Marvel Studios.

According to mounting rumors from insider blogs and social media chatter, Kevin Feige—the longtime president and creative mastermind behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe—could be planning his exit after Avengers: Secret Wars. And if the rumors are true, his next destination might be a galaxy far, far away.

Is Feige trading a cape for a lightsaber?

Feige, who has been the guiding force behind Marvel Studios since the early 2000s, is reportedly considering stepping away once Secret Wars hits theaters in December 2027. That date, although still tentative, marks the conclusion of the MCU’s ongoing Multiverse Saga, which began with WandaVision and Loki and is expected to culminate in a massive crossover event even bigger than Avengers: Endgame.

The rumored departure comes at a time when Marvel’s once-invincible formula seems to be faltering. The box office and fan reception for recent entries like Ant-Man and the Wasp: QuantumaniaThe Marvels, and Eternals have ranged from lukewarm to underwhelming.

Meanwhile, behind-the-scenes delays, VFX controversies, and fatigue from Disney+ content have contributed to what many are calling a Marvel slowdown.

Feige is a “Star Wars” super fan

That said, Feige hasn’t confirmed anything publicly, and Marvel Studios has remained silent on the matter. Still, whispers about a possible pivot to Lucasfilm are gaining traction. It wouldn’t be entirely out of left field: Feige is a Star Wars superfan and was previously announced to be developing a Star Wars film, though that project was later shelved amid Disney’s internal reshuffling.

According to some sources, Feige could be tapped to lead an overhaul of the Star Wars franchise, which has struggled to maintain momentum in the post-Skywalker Saga era. The success of Andor has proven the brand’s enduring appeal, but Lucasfilm’s theatrical slate remains in flux. A Feige-led creative reboot would bring structure and star power to a franchise still searching for its next identity.

Still, it’s worth noting that all of this remains in the realm of speculation. Until Disney or Feige makes it official, fans can only guess whether Secret Wars will mark the end of an era for Marvel—or the beginning of a new one for Star Wars.

Either way, if Kevin Feige is truly on his way out, his legacy at Marvel is unmatched. From Iron Man to Endgame, he built a cinematic universe that changed Hollywood forever. The only question now is: can he do it again in another universe?
