Magnolia acquired the rights of Javi Gomez de Liano from Terrafirma in a deal that was approved by the PBA on Friday.
The Hotshots got Gomez de Liano in exchange for shooting specialist Jerrick Ahanmisi and a second round pick in this year’s PBA Rookie Draft as part of another offseason move that started with the hiring of new coach LA Tenorio.

Gomez de Liano is coming off a one-year stint with Anyang in the Korean Basketball League, but had hinted a possible PBA return during one of his visits in the past season.
His last PBA campaign was in the 2024 Philippine Cup when he teamed up with Juami Tiongson, Stephen Holt, Isaac Go and Drei Cahilig in Terrafirma’s unlikely run to the quarterfinals.
He averaged 16.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 steals during that season.

Ahanmisi is heading to Terrafirma after emerging as a four-point specialist during Chito Victolero’s final season calling the shots for Magnolia.
But Ahanmisi’s minutes were inconsistent at times, and a move to Terrafirma may give him the chance to shine in new surroundings.
The trade is the first move made by Terrafirma since it opted to continue its participation in the league, followed by failed negotiations to sell its franchise to Starhorse, and later the Zamboanga Valientes.
