EXCLUSIVE: Rising executive Maureen Shepard has moved from the seller’s side of the business to the buyer’s, joining Netflix as a Director on the Studio Scripted Series team.
Shepard began work at the company this week, reporting to Nne Ebong, Vice President, Netflix Studio Scripted Series. She joins following nearly six years at LuckyChap, where she most recently served as VP of Television. During her time there, she worked closely with Netflix on critically acclaimed series including Sirens — the dark cult-themed comedy, starring Meghann Fahy, Milly Alcock, and Julianne Moore, which premiered in May — and the Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated Maid, an adaptation of the memoir by Stephanie Land, which starred Margaret Qualley. So, the transition will be an organic one for Shepard.
“It has been an incredible honor and privilege to work alongside Margot, Tom, Josey, Dani and the extraordinary team at LuckyChap,” Shepard told Deadline. “Their generosity, creativity, and belief in the power of artists have shaped me in countless ways, and I’m deeply grateful for the journey we’ve shared over the past six years. My gratitude is immense, and I look forward to finding ways to continue our collaboration in this next chapter.”
Shepard added that she’s “beyond excited to be joining the remarkable team at Netflix, under the visionary leadership of Bela, Peter, Jinny, and Nne. During her time as VP of Television at LuckyChap, Shepard supervised development and production of scripted television projects including Maid, Dollface and Sirens, where she served as producer. Prior to joining the company in 2019, she served as the creative executive for Giovanni Ribisi, working on Amazon’s Sneaky Pete.
