With just three days left for its grand release, Param Sundari, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, has officially been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The details from the censor screening are now out, revealing what changes the board has asked for before the film hits theatres this Friday, August 29.
No Visual Cuts, ‘Bheegi Saree’ Song Untouched
In a major relief for the filmmakers and fans, the Censor Board has not asked for any visual cuts in Param Sundari. This is significant because there was some concern about the romantic song ‘Bheegi Saree’. Recently, the CBFC has been quite strict with intimate scenes in other big films, leading to speculation that the song might be edited.
However, the board has passed the song without demanding any cuts, allowing the audience to see it as the director intended. This means the chemistry between Sidharth and Janhvi will be presented on screen without any alterations.
Several Words Muted By The Censor Board
While the visuals have been left untouched, the CBFC has directed several audio changes. The board has asked the makers to mute a few words throughout the film. The words ‘church’, ‘father’, and ‘bloody’ will be silenced in the audio and also removed from the corresponding subtitles.
In addition to these mutes, another change was made in the subtitles. The word ‘bastard’ has been replaced with the word ‘idiot’. These modifications are common during the censor process to ensure the film is suitable for a wider audience.
Final Runtime And Certification Details
After all the required changes were implemented, Param Sundari has been awarded a U/A certificate. The final runtime of the film is locked at 136 minutes, which means the movie is 2 hours and 16 minutes long. With the censor process complete, the stage is now set for the film’s release.
