Prabhas Starrer The Raja Saab Postponed To Pongal 2026, Ranveer Singh Starrer Dhurandhar Might Enjoy Solo Release On 5th December

Last week the makers of Dhurandhar unveiled the first look and release date. Starring Ranveer Singh in a lead role, the action-thriller has been confirmed to arrive in theatres on December 5, 2025. Apart from Ranveer, the Aditya Dhar directorial stars Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal and R Madhavan. It was suppose to clash with two major films at the box office this year. Prabhas‘ The Raja Saab and Shahid Kapoor–Vishal Bhardwaj‘s untitled film were releasing on the same date as Dhurandhar.

Shahid Kapoor starrer yet to confirm released date of the film as no asset from the film has been released yet. But today as per reports, Ranveer Singh starrer might averted the clash.

The upcoming Telugu horror-comedy The Raja Saab, headlined by Prabhas in a dual role, has officially been postponed to coincide with the Pongal 2026 festival season. The film, directed by Maruthi and featuring an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, and Riddhi Kumar, was earlier slated for release on April 10, 2025 then 5th December 2025. However, with post-production still in full swing, producers have now pushed the date to January 9, 2026, aiming to capitalize on Pongal’s massive box office pull 

Initially announced in January 2024, the film has drawn attention for its unique genre blend—romance, horror, and comedy—aimed at showcasing Prabhas’s versatility in dual roles. Maruthi’s direction reportedly revolves around a haunted ancestral theatre, with Prabhas playing both grandson and ghostly grandfather  . While delays arose during post-production—the April 2025 date was scrapped due to unfinished work official confirmation of the new release window came via multiple reports, including fan notices and industry insiders across social media platforms.

Pongal (January 9–16, 2026) is a lucrative window for big-ticket Indian cinema, and the decision to align The Raja Saab with the festival illustrates careful positioning against other tentpole releases in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. 

On the other hand, Sharing the first look of Dhurandhar, Ranveer revealed that his film will be out in theatres on December 5, 2025. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film features intense action sequences. Its first look showcases fiery glimpses of Ranveer, Sanjay, Arjun, Akshaye and R Madhavan.

Meanwhile, Dhurandhar marks Ranveer’s roaring comeback to movies. The actor was last seen in Karan Johar’s romantic comedy, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. He shared screen space with Alia Bhatt in the film. He is also slated to start shoot for Don 3 soon.
