The status of TNT’s RR Pogoy for the opener of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals against San Miguel Beer is still a question mark, with the prolific forward opting to play it coy when asked of the progress of his recovery from a hamstring injury.
“We will know tomorrow (Saturday) if I can play on Sunday,” Pogoy said during the pre-Finals press conference held at Chardonnay Events Hall in Pasig City.

Pogoy has been sidelined since Game 2 of the semifinal series with Rain or Shine after aggravating the injury, and TNT opted to take things on a day-to-day basis.
Coach Chot Reyes had earlier described that Pogoy had been dealing with a “micro tear” since the playoffs started.

He was among the Tropang 5G players on Reyes’ walking wounded list, as Kelly Williams sustained a “high-grade sprain” during the same semis against the Elasto Painters.

Jayson Castro and Rey Nambatac were not on the playoff roster due to their own injuries suffered early on, while Brian Heruela returned in the semis after getting hurt in the tough quarters matchup against Magnolia.
Calvin Oftana and Jordan Heading also have some aches and pains, but both played through them and helped TNT got the job done over Rain or Shine in six games.
Prior to getting sidelined, Pogoy was averaging 17.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 15 games this conference.
