Man of Tomorrow Gets a July 2027 Release Date
The sequel to this summer’s smash hit, Superman, will be titled Man of Tomorrow and has set a July 9, 2027 summer release date.
This summer, David Corenswet brought Superman back to the big screen in the film titled after the heroic character. There were certainly many fans of the film and repeat viewings have helped escalate the recent film’s box-office grosses to well over $600 million worldwide. Corenswet will be back on board as the “Man of Steel” while the capable Nicholas Hoult will return to the villainous role of Lex Luthor. James Gunn will be back to pen and helm the sequel which is going to be called Man of Tomorrow.
Rachel Brosnahan is expected to be reprising her role as Lois Lane in the forthcoming 2027 sequel. She and Corenswet steamed up the screen with romantic chemistry in this summer’s blockbuster which was certainly a hit with audiences, earning a solid “A-” CinemaScore. People truly enjoyed the romance between Superman and Lois Lane and repeat viewings caused the box-office to rise thanks to the combination of action and romance that the recent film presented.
Milly Alcock who appeared as “Supergirl” in a quick bit in the recent summer blockbuster will have a Supergirl movie of her own out before 2027 and is expected to appear in Man of Tomorrow as well, according to her presence on the cast list on the film’s IMDb page. Alcock was a showstopper with her brief turn at the end of Superman in which she appeared to get her dog back from Superman who had been dog sitting. Isabela Merced is also said to be returning in the upcoming sequel and Merced will most likely be reprising her supporting role from the first film.
Man of Steel was released back in 2013 to worldwide grosses similar to the new Superman picture. However, Rotten Tomatoes approval ratings tell the case of which movie was a bigger artistic success. Man of Steel sits at just a 57% critical approval rating while the recent Superman has a much healthier 83% approval rating. Many people think Superman would have been an even bigger hit had The Fantastic Four: First Steps not come out a few weeks later but Gunn’s vision of Superman was definitely one that was extremely well-received nevertheless.
A two-year window for a sequel is often a rare occurrence. It seems that James Gunn, Warner Bros. and company want to get this Superman sequel done quickly as the new reboot movie is still fresh in people’s minds and is still being thought about. Talk about quick turnaround, Man of Tomorrow will be out in theaters even before Matt Reeves’ long-awaited sequel to The Batman which isn’t going to be released until October of 2027.
