Shah Rukh Khan Persuaded Jaideep Ahlawat To Join King

Jaideep Ahlawat says, “Who will say no to SRK?” as he shares his journey about the much-publicized role in the film

After the success story of 2023 that exploded with blockbuster success starting with Pathaan, followed by Jawan and ending with Dunki, Shah Rukh Khan has once again taken the news with his upcoming film, King, which is another big-screen spectacle. Directed by Siddharth Anand, it currently has its fair share of buzz around it with reports of a truly grand ensemble cast. One of the last confirmations is powerhouse performer Jaideep Ahlawat, who relayed in an interview how SRK himself persuaded him to take the relatively small role in the film.

Jaideep Ahlawat: “SRK Sir Said He’ll Talk To Me Himself”

In a candid discussion, the actor shared the journey of being approached for King. He explained:

“Jaise mujhe pata laga hai SRK sir kaafi time se soch rahe the iss cheez ko, par Siddharth bhai thoda hichak rahe honge ki chota part hai to offer after Jewel Thief. Par Khan saab being Khan saab, bole …’I’ll talk to him.’ Ab unki baat kaun nakarega?”

The Jewel Thief villain, who earned glowing reviews for his role and dance sequences, added that it was the way Shah Rukh Khan was attached to the offer that made it hard to turn away from.

“Even if it’s a small role, when Shah Rukh Khan calls you personally, then you have to take it,” Jaideep smiled.

A Bond Goes Back To Raees

Jaideep then went on to say he has a very good regard for SRK.

“I really like him. Since our days on Raees when we shot together, we met quite a few times, and every time I meet him he makes me feel, like, I am the closest person to him. That is a rare quality. He makes you feel important when so many people want to make you feel completely insignificant.”

Their previous collaboration was Raees (2017), in which Ahlawat explained that over the years, Shah Rukh has always been pleasant and supportive on and off the set.

What We Know About King So Far

King, directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by the Red Chillies Entertainment company, is reported to be starring Suhana Khan, Saurabh Shukla, and Jaideep Ahlawat, with heavy industry speculation that Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Raghav Juyal, and Jackie Shroff, among other names, have also signed or attached their names to the cast. An official announcement is highly anticipated!

The film is in the works with high-level action sequences planned and is going to arguably be Shah Rukh’s most stylised action thriller ever in Pathaan and Jawan’s wake.

Jaideep Ahlawat’s Jewel Thief, also directed by Anand, is currently available on Netflix and continues to receive acclaim for its bordering on colourful and unusual villainy and tension.

Box Office Worldwide Verdict

Shah Rukh Khan leads from the front, but that’s the point—he lifts those around him. Jaideep Ahlawat’s entry into King exemplifies SRK’s ability to see talent and the standing he has from personal regard in this use of the word. With Siddharth Anand and a versatile cast emerging, King already feels like a king in its own right. And if initial discernment is anything to go by, the King will have a number of very strong competitors and allies beside him to sit on the throne.
