SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY (2026): Mark Ruffalo Joins Superhero Movie Re-Playing the Hulk

Mark Ruffalo Begin Again

Mark Ruffalo To Reprise His Role as “The Hulk”

Mark Ruffalo will be re-playing his superhero role as the Hulk in the upcoming fourth recent Spider-Man entry, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Mark Ruffalo was seen recently in his Oscar-nominated role in the critically acclaimed specialty hit, Poor Things. Ruffalo is set to “begin again” in terms of playing the Hulk in the new upcoming Spider-Man picture, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. It’s been a great ride for Ruffalo on his journey to stardom with some of his earlier work in movies like You Can Count on Me and 13 Going on 30 among the most memorable performances of his film career. In 2013, Ruffalo also appeared in a 2013 music-driven film, Begin Again, a fan favorite where he played opposite Keira Knightley.

Tom Holland, of course, will step into Spidey’s shoes once again in the new Spider-Man picture set for a 2026 release. Ruffalo will play beside Holland and joined the Marvel cinematic universe almost a decade and a half ago with his turn in The Avengers. Playing Bruce Banner/The Hulk has been one of the most accomplished turning points of his already distinguished career. Production on the latest Spidey adventure is expected to start in England this month.

Michael Mando will be re-playing the Scorpion in the upcoming comic book-based action film as well. Spider-Man Brand New Day will also showcase the always versatile Jon Bernthal playing his famed The Punisher role. This will be a rare big-screen appearance for the aforementioned and very popular comic book character.

Spider-Man, The Punisher and The Hulk are expected to face-off in the new action/adventure picture slated for release on July 31, 2026, which is right in the heart of the summer next year. Destin Daniel Cretton is slated to helm the forthcoming superhero picture.

Ruffalo is also known for his brief appearance in filmmaker Cretton’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Some of Ruffalo’s dramatic, non-superhero roles include parts in pictures like The Kids Are All Right and Dark Waters. Romantic comedy was also Ruffalo’s forte for a bit with roles in pictures like Just Like Heaven where he played with Reese Witherspoon.

Mark Ruffalo has worked with the greats like directors David Fincher and Martin Scorsese in the thrillers, Zodiac and Shutter Island. Still, it’s his role(s) as Bruce Banner and the Hulk that have probably gained him the most notoriety with mainstream audiences. Ruffalo also appeared in the 2015 Best Picture winner, Spotlight, where he gained almost unanimous critical acclaim for his role.
