THE SURVIVAL LIST: Blake Lively Cast in New Action/Comedy Which She Will Also Produce

Blake Lively Another Simple Favor

Blake Lively Set for New Action Rom-Com

Blake Lively will star in and produce a romantic action/comedy titled The Survival List which will be released by Lionsgate.

Despite real-life problems with her It Ends with Us co-star, Justin Baldoni, Blake Lively will be jumping back into the acting game with a new romance called The Survival List. In the film, Lively will play Annie, a reality TV producer who goes into action with a survival expert who proves not too knowledgeable in his area of expertise. When the couple gets shipwrecked, that forces them to work together and -who knows?- perhaps they’ll fall in love along the way.

Lively has recently had the good fortune to appear in the successful sequel, Another Simple Favor, where she played opposite Anna Kendrick. That Amazon picture which was released earlier this year received good overall feedback from both critics and audiences alike. It Ends with Us was an even bigger hit. It scored strong numbers at the box-office and resonated with audiences. It made $351 million worldwide and scored an “A-” CinemaScore grade.

Marc Platt is slated to potentially be co-producing The Survival List too. This is the type of comedy that feels like it could be based on a timeless theme of two people getting along under intense circumstances. Maybe this film will play like something along the lines of Six Days, Seven Nights, the Harrison Ford/Anne Heche starrer from 1998.

A lot of the success of The Survival List could rest on who is cast opposite Lively in the male lead role. Lively could probably help the movie open strongly at the box-office, but a strong male lead could help put the film further in the green too. These rom-coms are dependent on the quality of the chemistry between their lead stars to win audiences over. Anyone But You was a successful light romance that made a small fortune ($220 million worldwide), but that film wasn’t action packed like The Survival List promises to be. Action could either help or hurt the movie’s fate depending on how well it meshes with the plot.

Lively is also known for her remarkable performance in Ben Affleck’s brilliant 2010 film, The Town. She also played in a shark movie called The Shallows from 2016. It Ends with Us featured a great performance from the actress that deserved more acclaim than it received from critics.

Lionsgate will be releasing The Survival List and they have to make sure to market it properly. Some of their latest offerings like Americana (which starred Anyone But You‘s Sydney Sweeney) didn’t get the exposure it should have due to a lack of sufficient marketing. Lively’s attachment to the new movie will hopefully help get the film the marketing campaign it so rightfully deserves.
